CBD and Me

I love introducing innovative ideas to my people. It’s a rich family tradition I am proud to have inherited from Mom and Dad who were both ministers and political activists.

I tried marijuana, or cannabis, twice in college and it made me feel paranoid so I’ve never been a fan. But my son’s well researched prep school report on the positive effects of marijuana put my relative scepticism on hold years ago. Now I read almost daily reports about CBD, a plant extract of cannabis, often consumed as an oil under the tongue and now featured in high-end products including gummy bears, caffeine drinks, sports salve and infused waters. It’s reported to be one of the fastest growing industries in America.

Market research by Greenwave Advisors http://www.greenwaveadvisors.com

anticipates that the CBD industry could reach $3 billion by 2021 and eventually well over $200 billion in the U.S., especially if the Farm Bill, legalizing hemp as a crop, passes.

It’s a confusing story to lay out and there are so many unknowns about all this so I’m "sacrificing myself" as the canary in the coal mine for those interested in finding out more.

I started using CBD salves, tinctures and gummy bears by Rocky Mountain High Brands https://rockymountainhighbrands.com about a week ago so I could report about my own experience. This is not a political issue, it's actually a business opportunity with an enormous upside, but in light of the political climate and the upcoming midterms, it’s a great time for me to find an organic, plant based product that lowers anxiety and improves sleep.

One fun fact I did not know is that the human body has cannabinoid receptors built into it that serve to balance the brain and emotions https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cannabinoid_receptor.

Good news to me…. I like the idea of using something my body recognizes and can use to help me deal with stress, anxiety and inflammation. I have come to recognize most of my illnesses resulted from stress I couldn’t understand or control and my pain is usually from inflammation in the joints. (I also dislike taking pharmaceutical products that have side effects and build toxicity in my body, but that’s me.)

So far, in the last ten days, I can report I’ve noticed my mind is kinder and I can resist the urge to criticize myself and others. That feels like a quiet victory.

More to come...
